Veterans Off-Grid is partnering with Western Interstate Commission on Higher Education (WICHE) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to implement the Together with Veterans: Rural Veteran Suicide Prevention Program in Taos County. The goal is to create a veteran-majority team in collaboration with the community to reduce veteran suicide. Objectives include coordinating services to better support veterans; providing suicide prevention training for community members, veterans, and primary care providers; and community development of effective suicide prevention strategies for veterans.
The Together with Veterans Taos Steering Committee facilitated a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis on October 22, 2022. Thank you for participating and sharing innovative ideas and concerns towards suicide prevention. Your responses were helpful.
We are inviting you to the next TWV community meeting on Saturday, March 11, 2023. We will discuss the SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis results and begin collaboration/development on a Taos County Strategic Action Plan.
We invite anyone who relates to veterans and/or suicide prevention to help us brainstorm about veterans, suicide, what we know, what we're missing, and how we can support our veterans, their families, and our entire community.
